A tropical R&D workplace wrapped with large petal-shaped external shading elements and transparent Low-E glazing.
Architectural visualizationAn office and R&D building within Intel’s Penang campus. Designed for a tropical climate, the envelope places particular emphasis on controlling western solar exposure.
Unitized curtain wall; large petal-shaped external shading louvers; framed glass curtain wall; perforated metal panel systems; aluminium extrusion features.
The facade is characterised by oversized petal-shaped metal sunshades that project outward at steep angles. The shading system provides passive solar control in intense tropical conditions. Because each louver element is substantial in scale, the supporting steelwork requires rigorous wind-load resistance and deformation control.
Architectural visualizations and facade technical drawings from the supplied Intel Pelican project materials, presented without cropping critical drawing details.
